Welcome Bradley!

Welcome to the world Bradley!  Although we were scheduled to have a delivery on June 3rd, you decided to come on your own terms.  You were born on Monday, June 2nd, 2014 at 5:59am at Fairview Southdale.  You weighed in at 7.7 and 19 inches, Apgar score at 9.

Over the weekend, mama was feeling a few contractions.  It really started to get worse on Sunday morning.  We went to the hospital but then you decided to calm down.  We then came back home.  On Monday morning, around 1am, I knew it was time.  Baba, Beni and I went down to the hospital.  Then Baba dropped Beni off at home with the babysitter.  When he came back, you arrived about 40 minutes later.  The pain meds wore off so you were pretty much delivered naturally.  Not exactly my preference but that's how it worked out :)

Your brother Beni visited right away in the afternoon.  He was very, very excited to pick you up from the baby room.  He's a little scared of you right now because you are so small and can only cry.  But he is very helpful.  He likes to make milk when your hungry and let mama and baba know when you are fussy.

Uncle Mike, Aunt Holly, Lauren and Nicole also visited you on day 1.  You pretty much slept through the visit.  Also, our photographer Tami also took some pictures.

All of your tests came back great - hearing, heart defects, etc.  Your doctor has visited you every day at the hospital.  We checked out on Day 3 and on Day 5, you went from 6.15 to 7lbs 3oz - great progress!  You've been a great eater and sleeper for the first month.

Yipao, Uncle Johnny and Grandma Wu flew in to see you too!  Yipao stayed three weeks and held you the entire time.  You love being held by Yipao.  We've also noticed that you sleep better when you hear Beni's voice.  No matter how loud he is, it seems calming to you.  How sweet.

By the end of week 3, you were eating about 4 ounces every 3 hours.  You've started eye contact and some smiles.  We are amazed at your physical development.  From the first day, you wanted to lift your head.  You've also managed to roll half way since you like sleeping on your side.

Sleeping has been going well.  You do prefer to sleep with someone.  Now that you are in your 6th week, you like to be held or in the big bed with someone.  If not, you're pretty much up in 10 minutes.  You're also cooing and really studying the world around you.  You love faces and the wood beams in the family room.  I know you will hear this for the rest of your life, but here's the first time - you look just like your brother.

We are so happy you have joined our family and cannot wait to enjoy summer with you.
Love you lots!

Getting close!

Hello Baby Berger,

We are getting really close!  Actually, I think the countdown has started.  Your due date is June 4th but mama is actually scheduled to go in on Tuesday, June 3.  We are all very excited and looking forward to seeing you :)

Our weekly doctor appointments have gone well.  Your heart beat is around the 130's.  When you hear your own heartbeat in the ultrasound, you get excited and it goes up to the 150's.  Very cute.  Like your brother, you're a mover.  However, you like to constantly move and wiggle whereas he is more of a kicker and puncher.

Ben came 5 weeks early but I think you are snug as a bug in mama's belly.  Your favorite foods (my top cravings) are croissants (butter, almond and ham & cheese).  You also like all sorts of fruits.  I can't believe we will be meeting each other face to face soon!

36 weeks - Cinco de Mayo

Hello Baby Berger!

The weather is finally getting warmer and we are all ready to meet you.  It's been a couple of months since my last update.  You're growing and developing very well.  I don't have a lot of cravings which means you're always content with your meals :)

You're also very active and it reminds me of your brother when he was in my belly.  You love to kick and punch in the morning, after meals and super active when I lay down at night.  Many times, when Beni is laying on mama's belly - you like to play with him... kicking his head, etc.  Beni doesn't seem to mind at all.  It's so fun to watch.

Right now, we are at 36 weeks - you're probably 7 pounds and the size of a large canteloupe.  Mama is feeling good.  I've had some normal last month stuff - swelling, fatigue but nothing major.

Your room is all set to go!  Bed is made, curtains are up, drawers are stocked with cloths, swaddlers, bottles and formula.

Yipao will be here for three weeks when you arrive.  Uncle Johnny will come for a week and Nai Nai for a week as well.  Boy are you a popular one!

Can't wait to see you!!

26 weeks - February 24, 2014

Hello Eggplant!

Happy Monday. It's been about 2.5 months since my last blog post. Right now, you are about the size of an eggplant- 9.2 inches and around 2 pounds. We have about 14 more weeks together before you come out and greet everyone! Mama is showing - the belly is quite evident.

I feel fine and am doing well. You seem to be doing really well too! You like to move around after meals and become very active right around bed time. Overall, we are both happy and healthy. We found out that you are a boy!! I think it'll be great, you can play with your big brother Ben. He's beginning to understand - when he looks at the ultrasound pictures, he says, "that's my baby brother, he's in mama's belly!"

Everyone is very excited - mama and baba's friends are very happy, Grandpa Don is very excited, Nai nai is super happy and the Camerato's cannot wait. Yipao already blocked off three weeks to come and see you. Uncle Johnny will be here too!

We can't wait to see you my little Eggplant! Love you lots!

First and last blog post for 2013

Hello Navy bean,

I thought I would keep a journal and share it with you one day. I hope to keep this going as long as I can. So far, I've gotten to 3 years with your brother Benjamin! We are super excited to be expecting you. Right now, mama is at 18 weeks. I've started to develop a belly but still not visible yet. It looks like I might have put on a few pounds after all the holiday eating (which I did!)

At this time, not a lot of people know. A few of mama's friends and the Camerato's. I don't think your brother has grasped the concept yet... maybe in a few more months. For my first trimester, I felt good. No morning sickness, just some terrible stuffiness/ sinus issues.

Now that we are in the second trimester, all is good. I don't have huge cravings. Occasionally, I would like something with a mild spice. Most of the time, it's meals as usual. In a few weeks, we will go in for an ultrasound and see how you are doing and also learn if you are a boy or girl!

Love you lots, Mama n baba
